Bogot谩 D.C. From August 20th to 24th, 2018, the twelfth meeting of regional border controls Colombia - Ecuador is held in the city of Tulc谩n, Ecuador, which aims to review the joint strategy against transnational threats and coordinate combined efforts against organized crime at the border.
This binational meeting is attended by Major General Luis Fernando Rojas Espinoza, commander of Comando Suroccidente No. 2, of the Republic of Colombia and Brigadier General Gustavo Acosta Yaselga, commander of the Joint Task Force Esmeraldas of the Republic of Ecuador, as well other representatives of the Military Forces, National Police and Migration of both nations, who define cooperative operations that contribute to act with greater force against the criminal groups that commit crimes in the border.
Among the cooperation operations activities there is the improvement of the exchange of intelligence information and the implementation of coordinated strategies to counteract the criminal operations of organized armed groups, who through smuggling, illegal mining and drug trafficking, among other crime phenomena, destabilize border security and prevent the generation of new possibilities for development.
