Colombia - Panama Binational Activity was successfully completed for the benefit of the inhabitants of Darien

In the villages of Capurganá in Colombia and Puerto Obaldía in Panama, 2,250 people benefited.

 

During the activity, 189 general medicine, 151 dentistry, 246 optometry, 70 gynecology, 134 pediatrics and 46 orthopedics services were provided.

 

In the environmental activity, 450 kilos of solid waste were collected.

 

The Colombian Navy, through the Caribbean Naval Force in coordination with the National Army, the Colombian Air Force, the National Police and civil authorities, carried out the Colombia–Panama Binational Activity called United for Development, which benefited more than 1,800 people in the village of Capurganá, department of Chocó and more than 450 people in Puerto Obaldía, Panama with different services.

 

For this important activity, led by the Faith in Colombia program and the Arturo Calle Foundation, the Colombian Navy through the Coast Guard Station of Urabá and the crew of the ARC Golfo de Morrosquillo, transported by sea more than five tons of humanitarian aid and 170 volunteers to the villages of Capurganá and Sapzurro in the department of Chocó.

 

The comprehensive care of the activity included free consultations of general medicine, gynecology, dentistry, optometry, orthopedics and pediatrics, benefiting 836 people with health services and medication distribution. There was in the same way space for an environmental activity in which divers of the Coast Guard Station of Urabá led an underwater and beach cleaning, promoting the care of Navy and coastal resources.

 

At the services fair, where assistance was provided by the Ombudsman's Office, the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing – ICBF, Migration Colombia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Assistance to Victims, more than 350 people benefited. Additionally, social, cultural and recreational activities were carried out, along with school kits and presents distribution and cinema to the park.

 

This Binational Colombia-Panama Activity was joined by the National Army through Brigade No.17, the Colombian Air Force, the National Police, the Mayor's Office of Acandí, the National Border Service –SENAFRONT, the Embassy of Panama, among other public and private organizations, with the aim of working together for the wellbeing of the most vulnerable inhabitants.
