Our country, participates in the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition & Conference (DIMDEX 2026), one of the most important security and defence fairs in the world.
The country's strategic axes are focused on land, port and maritime security; co-creation and strengthening of the defense industry; drone and antidron systems; cybersecurity; and resources in armored vehicles, among others.
These spaces strengthen technological exchange, military cooperation, industrial development and dialogue on global security.
As part of the Colombian Government's international agenda aimed at strengthening security resources and expanding cooperation with partner nations, the Minister of National Defense, Pedro Sánchez Suárez, is participating in DIMDEX 2026, one of the most important showrooms in the sector worldwide.
During the event, Colombia prioritizes the exchange of knowledge and experiences in land, port and maritime security, as well as the co-creation and strengthening of the defense industry, drone and antidron systems, cybersecurity procedures and resources in armored vehicles, among other key fronts.
Within the framework of the fair, Minister Pedro Sánchez has attended exhibitions of maritime technologies, security systems, navigation, communications and defense, in addition to participating in conferences and strategic panels with senior officials and international experts to analyze the current challenges of global security. These spaces have managed to build bridges of technical cooperation, explore strategic alliances and progress in agreements with the industry.
Colombia's participation in DIMDEX 2026 reaffirms the country's interest in strengthening its international positioning in defense and security, diversifying strategic cooperators and establishing new alliances that respond to present and future challenges. The fair is consolidated as a key platform for the exchange of resources, technological innovation and international cooperation in the maritime, air and land fields.
In this context, Colombia seeks to expand its network of international partners, promoting technical, industrial and military cooperation schemes that contribute to sovereign resources.
As part of the agenda, the Minister of Defense will hold meetings with the Interior and Defense ministers of Qatar and make strategic visits to seaports to learn first-hand about the technological resources of the host country.
In the same way, Minister Sánchez Suárez held a strategic meeting with the Secretary of the Military Industry of Turkey, Haluk Görgün. In this space, both sides signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at increasing the autonomy and diversifying the resources of the Colombian defense industry.
The DIMDEX 2026 brings together military leaders, decision makers, governments, companies in the sector and international experts, exhibiting advanced technologies and innovative solutions in the naval and maritime fields. Colombia has taken advantage of this environment to make contacts, alliances and cooperation agreements that strengthen the Military Forces in the fight against transnational crime.
The fair, which takes place in Doha, is organized by the Qatari Military Forces and is sponsored by the Emir of the State of Qatar, Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani.
