Colombia and France carried out the binational operation Toucan Royal in the waters of the Caribbean Sea, reaffirming their commitment to international cooperation and regional maritime security.
In this edition, the USS Normandy, a guided missile vessel of the United States Navy, joined the naval exercises.
For four days, warships and naval units of the Colombian Navy, the Navy of the United States of America and the National Navy of France, carried out maritime interception exercises, naval maneuvers, tactical communications and naval operations. The ARC Missile Frigate Almirante Padilla with a helicopter aircraft embarked, participated together with the USS Normandy, a Ticonderoga-class vessel, the helicopter carrier Mistral and the La Fayette-class frigate Surcouf, in the framework of these exercises. These operations seek to increase interoperability, strengthen training and consolidate international cooperation in the field of maritime security and control.
The Toucan Royal operation is part of a multinational strategy to combat drug trafficking by sea and its related crimes, through which naval training operations and exercises are carried out. This cooperation leads to enhancing the resources of the institutions and improving their interoperability, in order to carry out more effective operations against transnational threats.
Colombia is constant in its current various international cooperation agreements with different countries in the Caribbean Sea, through which the National Navy coordinates and participates in multinational defense and security operations. These alliances contribute to the development of region, getting safer maritime spaces, free navigation and strengthening global and regional maritime governance.
