The Colombian Air Force (FAC) has taken an important step in cybersecurity, with the aim of strengthening its resources in the face of cyber threats.
For several days, the Cyber Incident Response Team of the FAC, the CSIRT-Aeronautical, was evaluated using a new model called SIM3, Security Incident Management Maturity Model, carried out in collaboration with the CSIRT Americas Network and the Open CSIRT Foundation. This model leads to measuring and improving the level of preparedness against cyber attacks, not only in Colombia, but in the same way throughout Latin America.
Thanks to this assessment, the CSIRT-Aeronautics of the Institution is now able to respond more quickly and effectively to any cyber incident. In addition, this strength catalogs the Colombian Air Force as a leader in the region in cybersecurity issues.
Experts from different countries participated in a specialized training to obtain an international certification that will lead them to evaluate the cyber security of other teams in the region, to improve cooperation conducted by Latin American and Caribbean countries and thus face digital threats together.
Through these operations, the Colombian Air Force continues to work with commitment to protect cyberspace and collaborate with other nations to work to promote cyber security in the region.
