In the middle of a firefight was captured in rural area of Tarazá, in the department of Antioquia, aka ‘Diego’, along with five other members of this organized armed group.
Troops of the National Army, in military operations against crime factors in the department of Antioquia, and in response to the Early Warning 028 of 2018, issued by the Ombudsman's Office, captured six members of the Organized Armed Group Eln.
The military operation was carried out in the municipality of Buenos Aires, municipality of Tarazá, where military of the Army, with the support of the Colombian Air Force and the Prosecutor's Office, received information of the Civic Participation Network about the presence of alias 'Diego' in this zone, armed and with more people, apparently planning a criminal operation against the Security forces.
During the operation, four of the six captured were wounded. Immediately combat nurses of the National Army gave them first aid to stabilize them. A Black Hawk of the Army Aviation arrived at the site to transfer the wounded to Caucasia, where an ambulance was ready to take them to a municipal hospital.
Alias ‘Diego’ commanded structures in charge of controlling the production and commercialization of drugs of the Lower Cauca towards the north of the country, he was in the same way in charge of committing criminal operations against the civilian population and the Security forces.
The individuals had 6 rifles, 6 guns, 3 grenades, 45 magazines of different calibers, more than 700 cartridges and military elements.
With this result, the logistical and financial structures of the Tarazá Company of the Eln, which has been committing crime in this region, are heavily hit.
