Hidden in the fuel tanks and fenders of two vehicles, more than 74 kilograms of coca base paste were transported along roads in the department of Huila to evade the operations of the authorities.
In a powerful operation against drug trafficking, troops of the Light Infantry Battalion No. 27 Magdalena, of the Ninth Brigade, with judicial support of the National Police, arrested four people and confiscated more than 74 kilograms of coca base paste in a rural area of the municipality of Pitalito, department of Huila.
The operation was carried out in the village of El Cedro, a village in Bruselas, thanks to military intelligence work that led to the identification of two suspicious vehicles traveling along this strategic route in the south of the department.
During the inspection on one of the cars, the soldiers found hidden compartments conditioned in the fuel tanks and the fenders. In these spaces, 49 beige containers and 28 packages wrapped in black tape containing the illicit substance were transported, with the purpose of evading the operations of the authorities.
In total, 74.4 kilograms of coca paste base, two vehicles and four cell phones were seized, which were allegedly used to coordinate this illegal activity. The procedure leads to the arrest of four people - three women and one man -, who must answer to the authorities for the alleged crime of trafficking, manufacturing or carrying narcotics.
According to military intelligence information, the shipment would belong to the residual organized armed group Structura Teófilo Forero, Grupo de finanzas Óscar Mondragón, an organization that would obtain illicit resources from drug trafficking to sustain its criminal activities.
Through this result of the military operation, Colombian National Army directly affects the illicit activities of this structure, preventing more than 74 kilograms of narcotics from entering the illegal distribution routes. In the same way, the circulation of approximately 74,400 doses of cocaine was prevented and an economic loss of close to 225 million pesos was generated for this criminal organization.
