Colombian Military Forces committed to the security and defense of the Nation

More than 30 thousand soldiers of land, sea, air and river are deployed for the protection of our borders.

30 units afloat of the Colombian Navy carry out control operations for national security.

The Air Force has carried out 81 reconnaissance and control missions in bordering areas.

In compliance with the instructions issued by the President of the Republic and the Ministry of National Defense for the prevention and containment of Covid19, the General Command of the Military Forces designed and implemented the Operation ' San Roque’, whose objective is to maintain the troops in maximum operational capacity in crisis situations, promoting health and well-being and guaranteeing effective border control.

For this, since March 16, the Military Forces are in maximum alert, strengthening the operation of control and coverage of the country's six land and sea borders, which have an extension of 6,386 kilometers, which are today covered by more than 30 thousand soldiers of land, sea, air and river, deployed to exercise effective control in the 19 formal entries and more than 180 non-formal ones that currently exist with Brazil, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru and Venezuela.

In the framework of Operation 'San Roque', the Commanders, at the different levels of command, have held more than 300 coordination and support meetings for civilians with institutions such as Migracion Colombia, the Customs Police, the Attorney General of the Nation, consulates, governorates and mayors, in order to know first-hand the requirements of these entities and facilitate the maintenance and control of the operations carried out by the Military Forces in the border areas.

In the same way, the regional commanders, with operation in border areas, have coordinated with counterparts in neighboring countries, through current cooperation mechanisms, binational border control strategies Plan Espejo (Mirror Plan), to shield border crossings from factors of instability and transnational crimes that may hit the security and good physical condition of the territory or jeopardize the health of the communities that live in the neighboring regions.

Meanwhile, more than 30 units afloat of the Colombian Navy are deployed in the insular territory, in the maritime border areas, in the Caribbean Sea, the Pacific Ocean and the main river tributaries of the national territory, especially in the south and east of the country, supporting more than 40 checkpoints through border security tasks.

In order to support these operations, the Colombian Air Force has flown more than 270 hours, carrying out 81 reconnaissance and border control missions, using manned and remotely manned aircraft.

In the same way, the Military Forces adapted and arranged their logistical capabilities to accompany the prevention and containment activities carried out by the national, departmental and local health authorities at border crossings, in order to protect the Colombian people.

¡La victoria es de todos!

(Victory belongs to everyone!)
