The Colombian Military Forces reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable development and the energy transition during their outstanding participation in the International Sustainability and Environmental Innovation Summit, led by the Regional Autonomous Corporation (CAR), which was held from September 9 to 11 at the 脕gora Convention Center.
Within the framework of the event, the panel entitled Ringleadership of the Military Forces in the Energy Transition and Environmental Sustainability was carried out, where representatives of Colombian National Army, the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Aerospace Force shared concrete experiences and innovative projects that integrate renewable energies, energy efficiency and environmental conservation.
- Colonel Wilson Mart铆nez, Commander of Colombian National Army's Disaster Care and Prevention Brigade, spoke about institutional coordination in environmental protection processes and disaster risk management.
- Frigate Captain Gustavo trabajandia, Director of Technological Management of the Colombian Navy, spoke about the Strategic Energy Transition Plan Gaia, positioning the Navy as a pioneer in this field within the public sector.
- Major Camilo Cordero, Section Chief of the Basic and Environmental Sanitation military operation of the Colombian Aerospace Force, spoke about the importance of formulating environmental and energy efficiency projects that strengthen institutional legitimacy.
The panel was moderated by Sidney Cruz, technical advisor of the National Planning Department, who guided the conversation towards the challenges and opportunities of the defense sector in the national environmental agenda.
This space led to make visible the leadership of the Military Forces in the construction of a resilient, sustainable country and works for the protection of natural resources, demonstrating that security and defense can be strategic allies of environmental development.
