11 military engineers, experts in military demining, will be sent to a NATO member country neighbor of Ukraine.

After the last week meeting, in which the invitation to Colombia to participate in the Contact Group of Defense of Ukraine, the minister of Defense of Colombia, Diego Molano Aponte, the secretary of Defense of the united States, Lloyd J. Austin III, the head of the ministry of Defense offered 11 Military Engineers to provide military demining training to Ukrainian soldiers.

This group would travel to a NATO member country neighbor of Ukraine, and would remain there for as long as necessary to improve tactical demining techniques and procedures.

The Defense minister in an on line meeting today with the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group, where 36 countries and the EU participated, said that Colombia has been working to support Ukraine not only with humanitarian aid, which has already been sent, but in the same way by sharing knowledge on this issue of demining.

Minister in the same way said that taking into account that Colombia is a global partner of NATO and that having the Demining Training Center, in Tolemaida, which has a great experience in Resources and information, this support was put at the service to prevent other Ukrainian lives from being hit by those mining practices.

Recently the Ministry of Defense signed the individual training program with NATO that establishes cooperation and crisis management mechanisms as one of the pillars where this country can contribute in education and training.

“Colombia, as always, works to comply with the values of freedom and human rights and in this case makes a concrete contribution as a member and global partner country of NATO, to this initiative and this requirement,” he concluded.
