The illicit substance was concealed in a van-type cargo vehicle. The shipment that would cost more than 800 million pesos and would be equivalent to 1.2 million doses was destined for the international market.
As part of the road operations that are being carried out to close the way to narcotics trafficking, troops of the Magdalena Battalion, of the Ninth Brigade, in coordination with members of the Huila Police Military Forces, found 1.3 tons of marijuana on the road that connects the department of Cauca with the south of Huila, in the sector of the Versalles village of the municipality of Pitalito.
The result was possible thanks to the expertise and experience of soldiers and police officers, who, thanks to a thorough search of a van, discovered a false wall in the front of the car, where 15 fabric bags with the narcotic were hidden.
During the operation, the driver of the vehicle, who was covering the Popayan-Florencia route, was arrested. The man was put into custody of the authorities for the alleged crime of trafficking, manufacturing and carrying narcotics.
This result neutralizes the plans of the residual organized armed groups, which seek to strengthen their finances through drug trafficking, trying to triple its value, this time, by trying to take it to Brazil.
