In the capital city of the Republic, in the Claret neighborhood, troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Tolima, of the Sixth Brigade, and the Technical Investigation Corps, CTI (Technical Investigations Corps), arrest a man who by telephone pretended to be a member of a group of dissidents to sow terror and extort money.
The individual, through telephone intimidation, on May 9, 2023, called the victim, an inhabitant of the municipality of Fresno, telling him that he was a member of the Gaitanist Self-defense Forces of Colombia, so he should follow the instructions.
In this way, this individual pressured the victim to go to a certain point, where, of course, communication was lost. Then, the individual contacted the family, saying that he had kidnapped their relative, and in order to return him alive, he demanded that they send two million pesos.
The relatives immediately sent the money, and hours after this action the victim returned to a place where he can contact with his relatives. And so, he informed them that it had all been a hoax, that he was never kidnapped. Which is why they filed a denunciation with the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Tolima.
Nine months later, after an exhaustive investigation, this individual was found and is today being put into custody of the Prosecutor's Office for his respective prosecution for the crime of aggravated extortion.
