The north of Nariño, recognized for its cultural richness, faces risks due to the possible presence of explosive devices in areas that are currently being intervened with humanitarian demining.
Over two days, more than 500 inhabitants received 567 items of humanitarian support, including school kits, food baskets, clothing, soccer balls, canes and wheelchairs.
The management was coordinated by the Brigade of Engineers of Humanitarian Demining, the private company and the mayor's Office of San Pablo.
“In order to support the most vulnerable communities in the municipality, a humanitarian activity was carried out in San Pablo, Nariño department, during which four wheelchairs, five canes, five psychomotor stimulation sets, 60 footballs, 64 food baskets, 264 school kits and 300 clothes were distributed. These operations directly benefit children, people with disabilities and families in vulnerable conditions, reaffirming the commitment to inclusion, equity and social wellbeing,” said Colonel Edward Cardozo Osorio, commander of the Humanitarian Demining Brigade.
Sebastián Rodríguez, a member of the Arturo Calle Foundation, said: “We are bringing hope to children so that they can study, so that they can have a decent future; that is the intention on this occasion.”
“Today we want to thank the Demining Battalion No. 6 and the Arturo Calle Foundation, who donated a wheelchair, remittances and clothing. We are very grateful to them, the old people were very happy”, said Diana Erazo, senior coordinator of the mayor's office.
This gesture of solidarity not only brought material goods, but in the same way conveyed a message of unity, hope and social commitment among institutions, the private sector and the community.
