Military operations that are being carried out in the municipality of Tame, Arauca, led to dealing a powerful blow to the structures of the ELN.
There troops reported the death in the framework of military operations of a member of this armed group outlaw, in addition to the finding of abundant war material and explosives.
Within the framework of military operations and in compliance with the Plan Ayacucho Plus military operation, troops of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 8, of the Eighth Division of Colombian National Army, engaged combats in the village Siberia 1, municipality of Tame, in the department of Arauca, against members of the Eastern War Front, Heroes and Martires of the organized armed group ELN.
During the confrontation, a member of this organized armed died in the framework of military operations. In the same way, war material and military accessories were seized, such as a rifle, a long shotgun-type weapon, magazines for 7.62 mm caliber rifle, more than 2632 7.62 mm caliber cartridges, more than 2345 5.56 mm caliber cartridges, 6 38-caliber cartridges, 10 9-mm caliber cartridges, smoke grenades, multipurpose vests and campaign equipment.
In the operation, in addition to the war material and military accessories, the troops found explosive material: 17 81 mm caliber mortar rounds, 2 launching media with 12 explosives inside, 11 additional explosives, a high explosive mine and 4 anti-personnel mines. All this explosive material was destroyed in controlled conditions by the EXDE group.
According to military intelligence, these explosives were to be used to carry out terrorist operations against the inhabitants and the Military Forces in the department of Arauca.
These facts were denounced to the authorities for the corresponding judicial proceedings.
This result represents a strategic and significant damage against the narco-terrorist networks of the GAO ELN in the department of Arauca, reducing their room for criminal maneuver.
