Colombian National Army destroyed an explosives hideout containing 26 anti-personnel mines of the Isaías Pardo Central Bloc in Huila

Ejército Nacional destruyó depósito de explosivos que contenía 26 minas antipersonal del Bloque Central 'Isaías Pardo' en el Huila

The military operation thwarted the criminal plans that put civilians and merchants of the department of Huila at risk.

Within the framework of military operations, troops of the Field Artillery Battalion N.9 Tenerife, of the Ninth Brigade, with the support of the SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE) of the Police and the Attorney General's Office of the Nation, found and destroyed in controlled conditions an illegal hideout of explosives in the village San Francisco, municipality of Palermo, department of Huila.

This hiding place, according to the first investigations, would belong to the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Isaías Pardo Central Bloc, Julián González Company, would be used to attack the Military Forces, the inhabitants and the productive groups of local merchants, by activating improvised explosive devices in order to force the payment of extortions.

26 anti-personnel mines, 45 improvised explosive devices with a security fuse activation system, 103 meters of detonating cord of different grams, 67 meters of security fuse, 20 electric detonators and 40 syringes were found by troops at the site.

Colombian National Army rejects the use of improvised explosive devices and anti-personnel mines, operations that violate International Humanitarian Law and indiscriminately put the inhabitants at risk. In the same way, it will continue to carry out operations that weaken the criminal capacity of the residual organized armed groups, reaffirming its commitment to providing security and tranquility to the inhabitants of the department of Huila.
