As part of Operation Catatumbo, National Army troops, through the Command Against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats, CONAT, in coordination with the National Police, found 600 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride in the village Trocha Ganadera, in the municipality of Tibú, Department of Norte de Santander.
The drug, which would cost 5,644 million pesos, was in an area used by illegal armed groups for the production and transportation of drugs to international routes.
According to intelligence information, it was possible to establish that the drug would belong to the organized armed group, GAO, ELN, northeastern war front Luis Enrique León Guerra.
This structure would have links with drug trafficking cartels in Venezuela and Mexico, with the aim of transporting cocaine from Catatumbo region, through the Department of La Guajira, to reach the Gulf of Venezuela. From there, the shipments would be sent to Central America and the Caribbean.
In the laboratory, 600 kilograms of chemical substances necessary for the production of the drug were in the same way found, distributed as follows: 300 kilograms of metabisulfite and 300 kilograms of calcium chloride; in the same way, 2383 gallons of N-propyl acetate and 274 of DIESEL were found by troops.
Thanks to this operation, the distribution of about 6,000 doses of cocaine was prevented, which reinforces the commitment of Colombian National Army in the fight against drug trafficking and the protection of the inhabitants.
