This result complements the 21 arrests of members of the Clan del Golfo, 4 surrenders to justice and the finding of more than 700 kilograms of marijuana, 3,000 ammunition, 2 long and 8 short weapons, in operations recently carried out by Colombian National Army in the departments of Caldas and Risaralda.
During military operations, as part of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, troops of the Ayacucho Battalion, attached to the Eighth Brigade of Colombian National Army, found in a rural area of the municipality of Guatica, department of Risaralda, an illegal hiding place with abundant material of military accessories that, apparently, belonged to the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, Jos茅 Miguel Madrid P谩ez Substructure, which seeks to strengthen its armed component in this region.
The finding was made thanks to a checkpoint in the Alto del Tigre village, where soldiers identified the suspicious movement of a vehicle along a tertiary road. When carrying out the search of the sector, they found an abandoned house, where several sacks were found by troops. Due to the implementation of the established security protocols, it was verified that they contained garments for the exclusive use of the Military Forces.
Among the items found are 2 plastic helmets, 4 kevlar type helmets, 4 pairs of boots, 5 full patriot type uniforms, 2 tactical sweaters, 6 campaign equipment with grill, 5 multipurpose vests, balaclavas, which were put into custody of the authority.
