For years, the inhabitants of the Agualinda village dreamed of seeing the park that represents the heart of their community renovated. This space, where more than 250 families share moments of joy and togetherness, was in disrepair, spoiling the quality of life of children and adolescents.
That dream became a reality in September thanks to an alliance by Colombian National Army — through the Faith in Colombia program, the Comprehensive operation and Development Support Battalion No. 2, and the Medium Cavalry Group No. 5 General Hermógenes Maza—, the Mayor's Office of Los Patios and several private companies.
For two months, soldiers of Comprehensive operation, together with members of the community and allied companies, worked on the remodeling of the park: they leveled the ground, laid cement, installed tiles, painted and finally laid synthetic grass.
The companies that contributed with materials and skilled labor were: Cemex, El Palustre, Cantera El Suspiro, Clays Támesis, Mega Block, Italcol, Sintéticos Luna and the Mayor's Office of Los Patios. The approximate value of the contributions was 50 million pesos.
Last Thursday, October 23, people enthusiastically received their renovated park, now safer and more suitable for everyone's enjoyment. This initiative demonstrates how coordination conducted by institutions, the private sector and citizens can generate positive changes and strengthen the social fabric.
