Soldiers of the Comprehensive operation and Development Support Battalion No. 4 arrived in the Río Negrito village of Villavicencio, Meta, to provide support to the members of the Association of Victims United for the Future (ASOVIFUT), hit by the overflow of the Guayuriba River.
The natural emergency devastated this communitarian poultry project, leaving 310 birds dead, flooded plantations and serious damage to the fertilizer center facilities.
This situation put at risk the food security and income of 20 women heads of household, all of them victims of the armed conflict.
In response, Comprehensive operation troops of Colombian National Army carried out support tasks, such as the removal of debris, the removal of animals buried by mud, the cleaning of sheds and the opening of ditches to facilitate the drainage of the land.
"Thank you very much to Colombian National Army for coming and supporting us. Your accompaniment was very valuable at these moments when we need it most," said Luz Mery Cubillos, ASOVIFUT's legal representative.
For his part, Major Hugo Andrés Sepúlveda Ruiz, commander of the comprehensive operation and Development Support Battalion No. 4, reiterated the institutional commitment to vulnerable communities:
"We are here to provide support to the vulnerable in the community. We regret the ravages left by this rainy season, but we are ready to provide the necessary support."
These operations are part of Colombian National Army's Comprehensive operations, aimed at strengthening the link with the inhabitants and supporting initiatives that promote development and resilience in the territories most hit by violence and poverty.
