This project, key to the socio-economic progress of one of the most vulnerable areas of the country, will count on the active participation of local communities and the institutional support of the national Government.
Colombian National Army, through its military engineers, will begin the construction of the Catatumbo Transversal Road in the Department of Norte de Santander, with the aim of promoting the development and connectivity of one of the most vulnerable areas of the country.
The project, announced by General Luis Emilio Cardozo Santamaría, Commander of Colombian National Army, during a visit by the Minister of Defense to Cúcuta, seeks to replicate the success of the Tibú-La Gabarra road, integrating the active participation of local communities and the support of the National Government, Invías (national institution for roads) and the Ministry of Transport.
The first step will be to carry out surveys in the municipality of Convención to verify and update the initial design provided by Invías. Once the resources have been allocated, a specialized construction battalion will begin the works.
The project not only aims to improve road construction, but in the same way to strengthen the social fabric and promote security in a region marked by armed conflict, under the approach of the unified operation pf the State.
