About 50 tons of debris and wood, stacked in two containers, and a large amount of appliances and belongings of the families of Santa Catalina, which were rendered unusable after the Hurricane IOTA, were removed today on board the ship ARC Golfo de Urab谩 of the Colombian Navy.
The material, which was previously separated by a hundred Marines and sailors of the crews of the four Navy ships that are supporting the work on the island of Providencia, was embarked and organized on the cargo deck to facilitate unloading in port.
After the maritime transport maneuver that traveled 1.2 nautical miles to Providencia, the landing of the Amphibious Ship Golfo de Urab谩 was made and began with the loading of the material in a truck MV7400 of the Mobility Battalion No. 1 of the Colombian Navy and a dump truck of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management.
On the island, following the protocols established by the Corporaci贸n para el Desarrollo Sostenible del Archipi茅lago de San Andr茅s, Providencia y Santa Catalina (Corporation for the Sustainable Development of the archipelago of San Andr茅s, Providencia and Santa Catalina) - Coralina, the debris and waste material was taken to the dump of the McBean Hill sector.
This is the first of many trips that the Amphibious Landing Ship will make to completely clear debris of the island of Santa Catalina and return the magic of this place, which is a natural treasure of Colombian people.
