Units of the Colombian Navy are in El Cholón, carrying out a search and rescue operation to find the whereabouts of Nicholas Cudini, a 26-year-old Italian, who disappeared yesterday afternoon after an alleged maritime incident in which he was involved.
The alert was received through the Coast Guard emergency line, who were informed of the alleged incident between two ships. According to the information provided, the Italian citizen was traveling with a companion on a jet ski when he collided with a rudimentary boat sailing in the area. Apparently, the person accompanying the foreigner noticed that his companion was not coming out afloat, so he asked for support of the sailors who were on the spot and who alerted the authorities of the emergency.
Immediately, a Coast Guard Rapid Reaction Unit – URR was brought to the scene to check the situation. In the area, notice was given to the boats and the inhabitants that were transiting the sector to support in a coordinated way the search for the missing person. Specialized divers of the Naval Institution were in the same way sent to conduct the review in the area without at the time positive results.
