In military operations carried out by the Colombian Navy in conjunction with Colombian National Army and coordinated with the Police, as part of the comprehensive strategy to neutralize the criminal operations of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, it was possible to hit in a powerful way the substructure Manuel José Gaitán, in the department of Sucre.
During a search and area control operation in the municipality of Corozal, department of Sucre, alias Pantera, alleged hitman of the GAO Clan del Golfo was arrested in flagrante delicto, he was carrying a 38-millimeter caliber revolver with six bullets, as well as three cell phones. The arrest was made within the framework of a coordinated checkpoint conducted by the Colombian Navy and the Police. The arrested man is charged with the alleged crime of manufacturing, trafficking, carrying or possessing firearms, accessories, parts or ammunition.
Simultaneously, in the municipality of Sincelejo, Sucre, search procedures were carried out in compliance with judicial orders, in a coordinated work with Colombian National Army, the Police and the Attorney General's Office, which led to the arrest of four individuals, who in the same way, apparently, would be members of the aforementioned substructure of the GAO Clan del Golfo. These individuals are being investigated for the alleged crime of association to commit aggravated crimes for the purpose of extortion.
Among those arrested is alias Fabián, who is accused of coordinating and carrying out terrorist operations against members of the Military Forces in the department of Sucre. In the same way, there are well-known individuals with the aliases Aguada, El Viejito, Niche and Fabián. During the procedures, three pistols, a revolver and ammunition of different calibers were found by troops.
It should be noted that alias Pantera and alias El Viejito, apparently, were the perpetrators of the attack against Navy man Armando Arrieta Pontón, in the municipality of Sincelejo, on May 03, 2025.
This powerful heavy blow complements the recent arrest of the individual alias 35, who would be the head of the substructure.
The arrested and the material were put into custody of the authorities.
Through these results, the Colombian Navy reaffirms its commitment to the security and tranquility of the inhabitants of the Colombian Caribbean, weakening the criminal structures that commit crimes in this region of the country.
