Naval Aviation detected a ship sailing at high speed and in a suspicious manner, so, immediately, Coast Guard units were sent which executed the maritime interception procedure and later, made the inspection to the boat, finding inside four individuals, two Colombians and two Jamaicans, who were transporting 80 sacks containing multiple rectangular packages, similar to those used for narcotics trafficking, being taken into custody.
The boat was transferred to a safe port in Santa Marta, where officials of the Technical Investigation Corps - CTI- of the Attorney General's Office, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test -PIPH, leaving positive result for 1,991 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, the shipment would cost about 96 million dollars; up to five million doses could be obtained from it.
The second procedure was carried out northwest of Cabo de la Vela, Department of La Guajira, thanks to the continuous control and surveillance efforts carried out by the authorities in the region, an aircraft of the Colombian Aerospace Force detected another Go Fast type ship. Units of the Colombian Navy, carried out the maritime interception that put an end to their criminal intent. During the inspection to the boat, which was manned by two individuals, 19 sacks were found by troops containing rectangular packages with illicit substances inside.
The boat was taken to a dock in the Department of La Guajira, where members of the Military Forces of the Judicial Investigation Section - SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE) - of the Police, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test -PIPH-, determining that it was 475 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, illegal merchandise that would cost more than 22 million dollars. In that way troops prevent the distribution of more than 1 million doses of this drug. In the same way, the two crew members were arrested, one citizen of Dominican origin and the other, Venezuelan.
