Colombian Navy distributes 300 food baskets in the department of Putumayo

Colombian Navy units, of the Southern Naval Force, distributed 300 food baskets to vulnerable indigenous communities and families in the Puerto Leguízamo municipality, in the Putumayo department.

Thanks to the management carried out at the central level, it was possible to benefit 1,200 inhabitants of this border municipality in the south east of the country. The aid consisted of a package of non-perishable food and one with vegetables, for which the rapid operation of the Colombian Navy crews in distributing the items was essential.

These activities, as a result of the Unified State action and the coordination of efforts with the public and private sectors, have led to mitigate the economic impact produced by covid-19 on the vulnerable inhabitants of the Colombian Amazonas region.

The Southern Naval Force has arranged its river and land Units at the service of distributing humanitarian aid, in the same way carrying out border control and surveillance patrols to guarantee safe environments during quarantine.
