Starting this long weekend, the Colombian Navy with the support of the people safeguarded the life of a group of workers, by preventing the sinking of the tourist boat in which they were preparing to make tours by the bay of San Andrés.

The rescue operation was activated after the San Andrés Maritime Traffic and Control Tower received the emergency call from islanders, informing that the boat Mr. Sea Fox was in an emergency when reporting water entering as a result of a breakdown in the cooling system.

Immediately, the Specific Command of San Andrés and Providencia deployed a Coast Guard Rapid Reaction Unit with Diving and Rescue personnel to the scene of the events, where they began the disembarkation of the people placing them safely in boats that were in the area. At the same time, the divers of the Colombian Navy carried out an underwater inspection showing damage to the cooling system of the generator, as well as to the engine room and other electrical systems of the boat.

Given the evidence, the Colombian Sailors proceeded to close water valve and clear the compartments, preventing the shipwreck of the boat.

It should be noted that the Diving and Rescue personnel of the Colombian Navy have resources and a high level of training for rescue operations and underwater rescue activities, in the seas and rivers of the country.
