Control operations in the Caribbean Sea conducted by units of the Colombian Navy led to the finding of more than 1.6 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, which were being transported by five Colombians aboard a go Fast boat in the Gulf of Urab谩.

The finding took place during maritime control operations by Urab谩 Coast Guard units attached to the Caribbean Naval Force, who detected the suspicious boat 25 nautical miles northwest of Punta Arenas, Necocli, in the department of Antioquia.

Immediately, the military intercepted the ship, finding inside 66 sacks that stored 1,645 rectangular packages of illicit substances.

The material, the individuals and the boat were transported to Puerto Seguro in the dock of the Coast Guard Station of Urab谩, where officials of the technical investigation Corps-CTI - of the Attorney General's office conducted the preliminary identification tests, leaving positive result for 1646 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.

This operation is a severe blow to drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the Colombian Caribbean, preventing the entry of more than $ 55 million U.S. dollars to their logistics structures.
