A new blow to the drug trafficking organizations was inflicted by the Colombian Navy thanks to joint efforts and resources of the Colombian Air Force, the National Police and the Attorney General's office, in a maritime interception operation, in which it was possible to find more than 2.5 tons of cocaine hydrochloride which were transported to Central America on board a go-fast boat.

The finding came from a coordinated work conducted by the Caribbean Naval Force and the Directorate of Criminal Investigation -DIJIN-, which led to maritime control operations by Rapid Reaction Units of the Coast Guard of Urabá attached to the Caribbean Naval Force, who detect and intercept the suspicious boat manned by four Colombians, 16 nautical miles northwest of Punta Arenas, Necoclí – Antioquia. During the inspection of the ship, the military found inside 104 bags that stored 2600 rectangular packages of illicit substances.

The material, the individuals and the boat were transported to the Urabá Coast Guard Station, where Judicial Police officers conducted the Pruebas de Identificación Preliminar Homologadas (Approved Preliminary Identification Tests) –PIPH-, giving a positive result for 2521 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.

This operation is a serious blow to drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the Colombian Caribbean, preventing the entry of about 84 million dollars into their logistics structures.
