More than 76 tons of narcotics, transported mainly by speedboats and semi-submarines, have been found in the Colombian Pacific, in 2022.
A new blow to drug trafficking organizations was dealt by the Colombian Navy in the Colombian Pacific, with the finding of half a ton of cocaine belonging to the FARC dissident group, Structure 6 Jaime Mart铆nez. The cargo, which would cost more than 16 million dollars in the international illegal market, was transported aboard a speedboat by two individuals, who were destined for Central America.
The Naval Intelligence Information and the permanent deployment of Surface Units (Ships) and Coast Guard of the Pacific Naval Force, led to the identification of a ship, sailing late at night, suspiciously, 45 nautical miles from Buenaventura - Valle del Cauca. A rapid reaction unit of the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station began the maritime interception operation that, after several minutes of pursuit, culminated in the immobilization of the boat.
The boat, manned by two men, was inspected by members of the Military Forces, who saw modifications in the structure of the boat, detecting the existence of a double bottom with possible illicit drugs.
For the above, the boat was apprehended and transferred to the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station, where its detailed review was carried out, using an anti鈥搉arcotics canine that detected the presence of illicit drugs. Later, with the work of officials of the Technical Investigation Corps - CTI of the Attorney General's Office, the boat was opened, finding 500 hidden pressed packages, containing 501 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
The drug and the bottle were found by troops, while the two individuals were arrested and put into custody of the authorities for the alleged crime of trafficking, manufacturing or carrying narcotics.
