The Colombian Navy, through the Santa Marta Coast Guard Station, participated, accompanied by the National Police, the General Maritime Directorate, DIMAR, the mayor's Office of Santa Marta, the Ministry of Tourism, the autonomous corporation of Magdalena, CORPAMAG, the Santa Marta Aquarium and the Port Society, in the release of 106 turtles (Carey, Caguama and Green types) in the Inca Inca sector in Santa Marta, Magdalena.
After the rescue, monitoring of a nest with turtle eggs was provided, the animals were rehabilitated and were born in the best conditions for the release process in their natural habitat, where they can grow and live in the sea world.
It is important to highlight that these sea turtles have been classified by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, IUCN, as critically endangered animals, so the authorities of the Department of Magdalena permanently guarantee their protection so that they can reproduce and be born in their environment.
