Units of the Colombian Navy, during   naval operations against transnational drug trafficking crime, found more than 1.8 tons of marijuana and 12 kilograms of cocaine at the time they were trying to be trafficked to Central America. Five individuals, including four foreigners, were arrested.

The facts took place in the central Pacific, where a Colombian Navy ship detected a suspicious speedboat. Immediately, a Coast Guard Rapid Reaction Unit was sent to start the maritime interception operation, in which repeated calls were made to the boat's crew members who ignored the authority. After several minutes of pursuit the boat was stopped.

During their inspection, 12 barrels with 660 gallons of fuel and 202 bags similar to those used to transport narcotics were found by troops, so the crew members were taken to Buenaventura where officials of the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH to the substance in the packages, leaving positive result for 1,887 kilograms of marijuana and 12.36 kilograms of cocaine.

The individuals, including three Costa Ricans, a Nicaraguan and a Colombian, were arrested and put into custody of the Attorney General's Office, and they answer for the alleged crime of trafficking, manufacturing and / or carrying narcotics.
