During last week, more than 29 million dollars were prevented to get drug trafficking organizations on the Colombian Pacific coast.

As part of the maritime control operations carried out by the Colombian Navy in the Colombian Pacific, during last week, three ships were detected in which 4,568 kilograms of marijuana were being transported.

The drug and the individuals were taken to the port of Buenaventura - Valle del Cauca and to Bahía Solano - Chocó department, where the respective judicial proceedings were conducted.

The first maritime interception was carried out in the North Pacific, when the Surface units and an aircraft of the Colombian Navy found a boat sailing at high speed in the area.

The boat that was manned by two individuals was intercepted and during the inspection 95 bags of different sizes were found by troops, apparently with illicit substances.

Due to the difficult meteorological conditions in the area and the multiple water inflows to the ship, it sank, so the personnel and the material found were taken on board a Colombian Navy ship.

Subsequently, they were transported to the District of Buenaventura where the Judicial Police personnel conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH to the packages; the result was positive for 2,353 kilograms of marijuana.

On the other hand, a ship was detected in the central Pacific by units of the Colombian Navy, with international support, when two individuals were sailing at high speed, transporting 1,057 packages, apparently of drugs.

The individuals, the material and the boat were taken to Buenaventura, where the expert examination was carried out, determining that it was 1,064 kilograms of marijuana.

The last operation was reported when units of the Pacific Naval Force detected a ship manned by three individuals 50 nautical miles of the municipality of Bahía Solano - department of Chocó, who when noticing the existence of military personnel conducted evasive maneuvers to escape without any success, causing the sinking of the boat.

Immediately, the Pacific Coast Guard personnel proceeded to conduct the rescue operation and provided first aid to the individuals, 46 bags that were adrift at sea were in the same way recovered. The men and the material were taken to the dock of the Bahía Solano Coast Guard Station, where the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH was conducted on the substance contained in the packages, leaving positive result for 1,151 kilograms of marijuana.

The seven individuals were put into custody of the authorities and will be prosecuted for the alleged crime of trafficking, manufacturing and/or carrying narcotics. With this blow to drug trafficking, the Colombian Navy prevented drug trafficking organizations from receiving more than 29 million dollars and distributing more than 700 thousand doses of the narcotic on the streets of the world.
