Units of the Colombian Navy belonging to the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura, in coordination with the Port Authority of Buenaventura, attended the emergency of a passenger transport boat named Juan Diego I, which had a problem due to water near the buoy 5, approximately 16 nautical miles of the urban center of the Port City, while making maritime transit by Buenaventura and El Charco, in the department of Nari帽o.

Once the emergency call was received, coordination was carried out with the civilian ship Lange Wrapper, which was close to the scene of the events, to help in the situation. Simultaneously, a Rapid Reaction Unit of the Coast Guard Station and a Pilot type boat of the Port Authority were deployed, who transported the necessary elements to stop the entry of water to the boat and put its passengers and crew in safety.

Thanks to the coordinated operation of the authorities, and the support of civilians, it was possible to overcome emergency preserving the life and good physical condition of the 18 passengers and 07 crew members who were on board the boat.

The Colombian Navy reaffirms its commitment to safety and preservation of human life in the seas and rivers of the Colombian Pacific coast, in the same way, it invites users of maritime and river communication lines to comply with the safety recommendations issued by the General Maritime Directorate and to report in a timely manner situations that may endanger navigation processes to the coast guard line 146 or the VHF channel 16.
