Coast Guard units of the Colombian Navy rescued a 40-year-old adult, who was drifting because the rudimentary boat in which he was fishing capsized near the rocky sector of Isla Aguja, department of Magdalena.

Thanks to maritime control patrols, crew members of the Coast Guard Station of Santa Marta found this citizen of Colombian nationality, who was in an emergency and disoriented, because the boat in which he was traveling sank, as a result of the heavy meteorological conditions in the area.

At the scene of the emergency, the sea rescue procedure was immediately activated, taking the citizen on board the Coast Guard Rapid Reaction Unit to check his health status and provide him with primary care in a timely manner.

Later, the crew of the Naval Institution transported the citizen to the dock of the International Navy of Santa Marta, being out of danger.

The Colombian Navy, through the Caribbean Naval Force, will continue to carry out naval operations in sustained manner, in order to safeguard human life at sea; it also works to enhance comprehensive maritime security in the spaces under its responsibility.
