The search and rescue operation was carried out by the Colombian Navy with the support of the maritime society in the area.
Coast Guards of the Colombian Navy with the support of the maritime society, rescued four men who were adrift in the area of the Rosario Islands in Cartagena, Bol铆var.
The emergency occurred when the men carried out sport fishing and the boat Turqueza, the boat suffered a breakdown being adrift. The sailors knowledgeable of the sea tried to repair the engine without achieving it, so they built a sail with the tent of the boat to protect themselves from weather conditions at sea.
The relatives of the sailors activated the alert at 5 pm yesterday Tuesday, as they could not contact with them. Once the maritime authorities received the emergency report, Coast Guard Rapid Reaction Units were sent, as well as naval and air units, which together with the maritime society intensified efforts to search and rescue the ship and its crew.
After 12 hours of searching, the navigators were rescued safe and sound. The rescued were taken to Isla Bar煤 and the Coast Guard Station of Cartagena where their health was verified and they were reunited with their families.
