Within the framework of the Unified Operation of the State, maritime, air and land institutions supported the transportation of more than 420 tons of cargo, including 117 of humanitarian aid.
After 15 days of the hurricane IOTA over the archipelago, the Colombian Navy, through the Caribbean Naval Force and the Specific Command of San Andr茅s and Providencia, has provided five surface ships and 474 crew members, in the framework of Operation Renacer, in order to support the humanitarian assistance and reconstruction work of the islands of Providencia, San Andr茅s and Santa Catalina.
This important military and logistical deployment is part of the response, stabilization and recovery plan of the archipelago. This operation is led by Susana Correa, Lyle Newball (local manager), and the Vice Admiral Gabriel Alfonso P茅rez Garc茅s, Commander of the Colombian Navy.
Thanks to the resources of the Navy, more than 420 tons of cargo have been transported to the island of Providencia on board these naval units for effective maritime control, including 117 tons of humanitarian aid, 19,800 liters of drinking water, 30 tons of pet food and dozens of heavy machinery vehicles.
Not only the ships of the Colombian Navy (ARC Antioquia, ARC Independiente, ARC 7 de Agosto, ARC Golfo de Urab谩 and ARC Roncador) of the Direcci贸n General Mar铆tima (Maritime General Management) -DIMAR- are deployed, there are also deployed in the area of the emergency crew members of the Risk Management Company, the Department of Diving and Rescue, the Department of Weapons and Electronics, and other operational Units such as Fast Guard Patrol of San Andr茅s and Providencia, three aircrafts of the Naval Aviation and a Logistics Combat Patrol, with the mission of conducting priority assistance work for the inhabitants of the island.
