Colombian navy thwarts new extortion case in Sucre

cogfm-arc-logo.gif

Thanks to the coordination conducted by the Colombian Navy and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, it was possible to prevent a person from being the victim of extortion in the municipality of Sampués, Sucre.

The citizen was contacted by telephone on different occasions by a man of foreign nationality, who demanded $ 200,000 pesos so as not to attack against his good condition.

Marine Infantry troops were alerted on the situation, so an anti-kidnapping and anti-extortion operation was quickly deployed in a coordinated manner among troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Sucre, attached to Navy Infantry Brigade No.1, and units of the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, who arrested the individual, finding in their possession the money resulting of the extortion activity.

The person arrested and the materials were given to the Fourth Special Prosecutor's Office of the city of Sincelejo - Sucre.
