As part of the naval operations being carried out by the Colombian Navy, the medical evacuation of a pregnant woman who had health complications was carried out. The transfer was made from the village of Bazán Bocana, to the District of Buenaventura, in the department of Valle del Cauca.
The request for support was made through the village Police Station, from where the medical emergency was reported and the immediate transfer of the patient was requested, to a care center, in order to safeguard her life and that of the baby.
Responding to the call in a timely manner, the Naval Institution sent a Rapid Reaction Unit - URR of the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura, which moved to the place where the woman was, to carry out her evacuation. During the procedure, the patient was accompanied by medical staff and a family member.
Once at the Buenaventura pier, the woman was immediately taken by ambulance to the Santa Sofía del Pacífico clinic, where she is currently receiving specialized medical assistance.
The Colombian Navy reaffirms its commitment to the protection of human life at sea and in the coastal areas of the country, through the deployment of its logistical and human resources.
