1. On March 23 of the current year, during the night, two military were carrying out search and control tasks in the urban area of the municipality of Fortul in the department of Arauca. They were wounded by the activation of an improvised explosive device, planted by the Domingo Laín Sáenz Front of the Organized Armed Group GAO - Eln, on one of the main roads.
2. They are Lieutenant Carlos Andrés Candela of the National Army and the Patrolman Luis Martín Gelves Castellanos of the National Police. The attack took place when the patrol activated the explosive charge, so they were taken to the Hospital of the municipality of Saravena, department of Arauca, where they are receiving medical assistance, recovering satisfactorily.
3. This Command publicly urges Human Rights Defenders to focus their attention on the repeated violation of Human Rights Human Rights and the serious breaches of International Humanitarian Law IHL, that the Organized Armed Groups GAO - Eln and GAO-r Structure Primera, respectively, break by the use of means and methods of illicit warfare with the indiscriminate installation of improvised explosive devices in this region.
4. The Quiron Task Force and its Tactical Units will continue to execute military operations in the department of Arauca permanently, in order to protect the Civilian Population.
