This result mitigates the environmental pollution that illegal organizations produce on the Cauca River.

In a joint, coordinated and inter-agency operation conducted by the National Army, the Colombian Navy, the Colombian Air Force, the National Police and the Attorney’s Office, and in response to early warnings No.009 of 2018 and 045 of 2020 of the Ombudsman's Office, destroyed a complex in the Bajo Cauca Antioqueño, used for the illicit exploitation of minerals and other materials, which belonged to crime gangs to get illicit incomes.

Through the operation, which took place in El Deseo village, in the sector of Jardín, in the municipality of Cáceres, it was possible to find and destroy a two-floor dredger, four backhoe loaders and an engine, which were used for these illegal activities that damage the environment.

This operation weakens the illegal finances of these crime gangs, which got monthly incomes of USD $1.7 million as a result of this criminal activity. Besides, the severe negative impact on the environment, the flora, the fauna, water sources and the ecosystem is reduced, but it could take up to 30 years for his recovery.

No arrests were made, but military operations continue in the area in order to find those responsible for these criminal activities.
