The first doses of Pfizer's COVID - 19 vaccines arrived at the two highest complex centers of the health subsystems of the military forces and the National Police. The Central Police Hospital received from the Secretary of health of Bogotá 1.536 vaccines; for the Central Military Hospital, 972 doses were sent.

At the Central Military Hospital and with the Minister of Defense, Diego Molano, the military and police high command, the Deputy Minister of Defense for Strategy and planning Jairo García and the Deputy Minister of Defense for the social and Business Group of Defense, David René Moreno, the first dose of the vaccine was injected to a health professional who is in the front line of care providing services of medium and high complexity. This is Dr. Adriana Vargas, an intensivist doctor and anesthesiologist who works in the Intensive Care Unit of the institution.

“It starts this vaccination period that brings hope to Colombia and that will lead a safe reactivation. ( ... ) We are here to pay tribute to all those who died, but especially to pay tribute to our medical staff, to ensure health and tranquility,” said Defense Minister Diego Molano.

The first vaccination activity in the Central Military and police hospitals will take place on 18 and 19 February.

For the case of the Central Military Hospital, 528 vaccines will be distributed on the first day and 444 on the second day. At the Central Police Hospital, 1,075 vaccines will be provided on 18 February and 461 on Friday 19.

“The human talent of the Central Military Hospital that will receive its first dose of the vaccine, has participated in the intensive and intermediate care services of high complexity; pediatric and neonatal; emergency; care in and out of the hospital where COVID patients are treated,” highlighted Minister Molano.

The head of the Ministry of Defense also reported that since the Central Military Hospital is the highly complex center of the Subsystem of the Military Forces, it was decided to start vaccination in that Institution, but clarifying that, with the next delivery of vaccines All the health personnel of the Subsystem of Bogotá and of the other cities that have been qualified for vaccination will be taken into account.
