Approximately 240 kilograms of marijuana, equivalent to about 240,000 doses, were seized by troops of the 27th Magdalena Infantry Battalion, of the Ninth Brigade, during a military operation carried out in the rural area of Pitalito, Huila department. This result of the military operation represents a loss of about 358 million pesos to the illicit activities of criminal structures that commit crimes in the south of the country.
The military operation in the same way arrested a man, who was allegedly transporting the narcotic in an FTR-type vehicle, using a form of concealment designed to try to evade the operations carried out by Colombian National Army on the department's main road routes.
During the procedure, the soldiers detected inconsistencies in the cargo that the car was transporting. When carrying out a thorough search of the 18 rolls of plastic hose, they found the narcotic substance inside.
The marijuana would have been compacted and molded in a cylindrical shape to later be inserted into the compartment, in a strategy used to make its detection during security forces operations more difficult.
The experience and capacity of the military operation of the troops managed to discover this mode of concealment, preventing the cargo from continuing its journey to illegal markets for the distribution of illicit substances. The resources obtained from this illicit activity would allegedly be used to strengthen the criminal activities of organized armed groups.
According to military intelligence information, the cargo allegedly belonged to the Óscar Mondragón finance group, of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Teófilo Forero Castro Structure.
The arrested man, the vehicle, the drug and a cell phone were seized during the operation, which had the judicial support of the National Police.
