The arrest of 22 members of organized armed groups, including 4 ringleaders, 2 of the terrorist support networks, and the death in the framework of military operations of alias Cancharino, head of finance of the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc, consolidate the report of the military operation of the troops so far this year.
Today, these are safe territories thanks to the operations of the troops with inter-institutional support.
It should be noted that among the results of the powerful military operation there is the death in the framework of operations of alias Cancharino that occurred in the rural area of Rovira. This individual was the head of finance of the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc and among his main functions he collected money from illicit activities such as extortion, kidnapping and drug trafficking.
These finances were fed by criminal activities carried out by other ringleaders and supplied to alias Chancharino from other fronts that commit crimes in the departments of Huila, Meta, Caquetá, Tolima, Putumayo and Vaupés.
Subsequently, the arrest of alias Tique, a member of the terrorist support networks of the residual organized armed group Frente Joaquín González.
Already in March, alias Pedro Sierra and 5 other members of the terrorist support networks of the residual organized armed group Frente 26 de marzo, a group belonging to the Isaías Pardo Bloc, were arrested. Days later, 2 alleged members of the same group were arrested (as a result of the splitting of the Gaitán Gutiérrez Substructure), and a minor was in the same way recovered.
In April, a powerful blow against the GAO-r Frente Joaquín González was the arrest of its ringleader alias Fabián along with 3 members of this group.
Between April and May, the soldiers arrested members of the support network of the residual structures of the March 26 Front and Ismael Ruiz. This operation resulted in the arrest of 9 of its members, including alias Hector, who was the ringleader.
The most recent arrest is that of alias Danilo, alleged second ringleader of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Joaquín González Front, along with 2 other alleged members of this structure.
Other tangible results of the troops' military operation include 93 arrests against organized criminal groups, 16 arrests for illegal mining, 3 surrenders to justice, 17 arrests for extortion, 4 recovered minors, the neutralization of 3 improvised explosive devices, the finding of 16 firearms and 21 grenades.
In the same way, the operations are in the same way directed towards campaigns for the protection of the inhabitants, such as against the forced recruitment of children and adolescents and the execution of 319 prevention campaigns focused on countering crimes such as extortion and kidnapping; 18 environmental activities and the contribution to the social fabric, operations that complement the construction of 350 meters of roads surface, 17 eco-efficient stoves and 8 development support activities in Tolima.
The 4600 men and women who work in this region of Tolima do not rest to maintain the operation against the terrorist groups that intend to hit the territory; that is why the Sixth Brigade invites the inhabitants to denounce the problem of extortion and kidnapping through the toll-free line 147 and the anti-terrorism line 107
