In 2025, 88 people have been rescued and evacuated due to different emergencies in the Colombian Pacific.
As part of a Development Support Activity, the Colombian Navy carried out the evacuation of four people of the village of Bazán Bocana, in the District of Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca, who had health complications and required assistance at a specialized medical center.
The first evacuation was carried out due to a request by the community, in which it was reported that a 77-year-old man had signs of possible cardiorespiratory failure. After the initial transfer, the elderly man was received by military personnel to be evacuated immediately to Buenaventura.
The second case corresponded to a 66-year-old woman, who had symptoms of fainting, cramps and progressive weakness, conditions that compromised her physical stability and, therefore, required specialized medical evaluation. Crew members of the Naval Institution, proceeded to their initial assistance and subsequent evacuation.
In the same sector, two other medical emergencies were reported; that of a 43-year-old man, who had a severe episode of hyperglycemia, and that of a 35-year-old adult, who was injured due to an accident with a polisher, while conducting household chores, leaving an open wound that required specialized medical care.
Given the seriousness of the cases, the four patients, along with their companions, were taken on board a Rapid Reaction Unit – URR of the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura, where constant monitoring of vital signs and basic assistance was maintained by military personnel, until they arrived at the dock of the Special District. Once in port, a previously coordinated ambulance transported them immediately to the Luis Ablanque Hospital in La Plata, where they were received by medical personnel to continue with their care.
