More than 1,500 inhabitants of the Afro-descendant and indigenous communities of Gallinazo Island in Cove帽as, Sucre, were benefited with a Development Support Activity carried out by the Colombian Navy through the Marine Infantry Training Base.
The activity was supported by the IPS Cuposalud, Asocove帽as Empresarial, the Municipal Mayor's Office, the Sandra Beauty Academy of Sincelejo, the Fundaci贸n Caminos, the Scientific Association of Medical Students of the University of Sucre (ACEMUS), the Students Organization of nursing of the University of Sucre (Oeenus) and the Cove帽as Naval Social action, managing to meet the most felt needs of the community.
In this opportunity the members of the indigenous and Afro-descendant community were benefited with the services of general medicine, dentistry, prevention and promotion program in health, cytology, gynecology, clinical laboratory, blood donation, nutrition, optometry, phono audiology and physiotherapy. Similarly, the activity included hairdressing services, donations of clothing, shoes and kitchen utensils for home.
Throughout the activity, recreational activities were carried out for the children, who enjoyed the different leisure and recreational activities prepared by the awareness raising squad in a special way, with the cooperation of the Navy radio station Marina Stereo of Cove帽as, where the participation of the children was rewarded with great joy and amused smiles that at the same time thanked the infantry men.
