Dimar acquires and installs 32 buoys for the Colombian Pacific Ocean

The General Maritime Directorate (Dimar) installs 32 buoys in the Colombian Pacific, which will be part of the system of navigation aids of this coast that will consolidate the strategic lighthouse related to Maritime Comprehensive Safety, which is the main objective of the institution.

Twenty of these buoys will be placed in the access channel to Tumaco, thus fulfilling the agreements established with the Buenaventura Civic strike Committee. The other 12 buoys will be installed in the mouths of Baz谩n, Guapi and the Golfo de Tortugas, enabling three channels for navigation.

For the purchase of the buoys, 3 billion pesos were invested, a figure that fits in the frame of the commitments and also supports the Pacific community, especially seafarers, in terms of maritime safety and security, safeguarding life at sea.

The buoys vary in weight and size depending on the function they fulfill. Their installation and maintenance is carried out by the General Maritime Directorate in a permanently and uninterruptedly, since it is aware of their importance for the safety of human life at sea.

Thus, these navigational aids comply with the current regulations and the Maritime Beacon Systems of the International Association of Marine Aids for Navigation and the Authorities of IALA, its acronym in English.
