Five people were arrested in flagrante delicto in the rural area of Caldono, Cauca. Among them are three citizens of Ecuadorian nationality.
In the Cerro Alto village of the municipality of Caldono, norte del Cauca, troops of Colombian National Army in coordination with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office, the Aerospace Force and with the support of the Government of the United States, arrested five people who were members of a foreign and domestic currency trafficking group.
Three of these arrested are of Ecuadorian nationality and one of them had a red notice notified by Interpol.
About 1200,000 USD were found at the scene, which had been prepared by this group to introduce them into the financial system of Ecuador. In the same way, 52 plates of different denominations of United States dollar and three machines that helped the printing of money were found by troops.
With the dismantling of this transnational group, it was possible to reduce the circulation of more than 1200,000 counterfeit USD in the neighboring country.
