Soldiers of the Army arrived with more than 2,000 food baskets in the sectors of San Luis and La Loma; a task carried out jointly with the Air Force and in coordination with the Rotary International Foundation and Almacenes Éxito.
The National Army, through the Defense Support operations to the Civil Authority, ADAC, arrived with basic products of the family basket that were distributed to people who have been hit during the covid-19 pandemic, because the island economy depends mostly on the tourism sector and this is not yet enabled for health reasons.
For this reason, the soldiers of the Army Component of San Andrés Islas, reached vulnerable sectors of the archipelago and more than 2,000 families benefited of the distribution in recent days. The food baskets left the CATAM Military Base in Bogotá, destined for San Andrés Islas and were stored in warehouses of the San Andrés section of Rotary International, in a work carried out by the National Army's Support of the Comprehensive Action and Development Command in coordination with Almacenes Éxito.
The soldiers in San Andrés remain committed to the well-being of the islanders; and with this distribution they complete 5,050 food baskets distributed in the area, thanks to the work that has been carried out in coordination with the Risk Management Unit and the Development Secretariat of the Archipelago Government.
Jackelin Blanco, Government Secretary of the Archipelago, said: "We want to thank the National Army for all the support and collaboration they have had with us, and with the entire community of the department. There are many supports with water supply and distribution of humanitarian aid. With all my heart, thank you ”.
