Since childhood, the Technician Galo felt great admiration for the military personnel he saw parading every July 20th, that fascination for military life marked the beginning of a vocation that years later would lead him to enter, in July 2008, the School of Non-Commissioned Officers of the Colombian Aerospace Force as part of the course number 80. As a member of the Base Security and Defense Specialty, he found not only a professional opportunity at the Institution, but in the same way the path to fulfill a life purpose: To serve the country with discipline, commitment and passion.
During his training, he discovered the work with military trained dogs, an operation that led him to unite two worlds that he had always been passionate about: military life and the love for animals “I was always inclined towards pets, I loved dogs since childhood, and when the opportunity arose to take the Dog Master course, I knew it was my time,” he recalls. The course No. 32 of the Military Dog Master Instruction School, marked the beginning of a specialized career to train and accompany trained dogs in detection and control missions.
His first dog, Muñeca, was his partner and the reflection of what teamwork means “She was very spoiled and affectionate; I appreciated her a lot,” he recalls nostalgically. Since then, he has participated in multiple operations of search and detection of illicit substances, vehicle control, patrols and raids, tasks that require precision and total trust in his trained dog.
Today, thanks to 18 years of service, the Technician Galo continues to find in each activity a new opportunity to learn from his four-legged companions, his story is a testimony of discipline, commitment and vocation, a reflection of the constant work that strengthens safety and the fulfillment of the institutional mission.
