During 2021 Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) groups have achieved 352 arrests for the crime of extortion, 76 for kidnapping and 344 for other crimes.
They have in the same way rescued six citizens who had been kidnapped, have managed to release 23 more people under pressure of the troops, and thwarted 2 extortions.
Taking into account that extortion can be conceived as a silent crime that every day harms the patrimony of citizens, the military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Groups) have strengthened their fight against this phenomenon, especially in times of pandemic, achieving that to date the community has stopped paying COP $ 1,213,881,000 for extortion and COP $ 1,010,000,000 for kidnapping.
It should be noted that the joint work of Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Bolívar, the Elite Group 1, with the support of SIJÍN of the National Police, has dismantled the criminal organization Héroes Del Caribe, belonging to the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, at the time of arresting in flagrante delicto five of its members who were perpetrating extortions and selective murders against the different productive groups and merchants of the region.
